S.J.D. STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

 

The Sir James Dunn code seeks to reinforce positive behaviour.

 

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:

Students will:

·maintain regular attendance in all of their classes

·provide proper documentation upon returning from an absence

·attend all scheduled classes during the day

·stay in class for the entire period, unless excused by the teacher

·attend all classes on time

·be prepared for class with the appropriate materials and books

·express themselves without the use of profane language or offensive gestures

behave in the classroom in a manner that will not infringe on others’ rights to a positive learning environment

·respect and follow direction from all staff of the school

·refrain from smoking on property or during a scheduled class

·complete all detentions assigned by administration and teachers

·stay out of the cafeteria during scheduled class time

·immediately report to the office when removed from a class

·not be in possession or under the influence of drugs and alcohol at school or at school events

·follow all safety procedures/guides outlined in specific classes

·leave personal stereos, MP3 players and backpacks in the locker


·return all school property, including text books, library books, materials, instruments, uniforms by the end of the school year

·use school computer resources only for school related activities

·work to the best of their ability to complete all homework and assignments by the established due date

·practice academic honesty by refraining from cheating and plagiarism

·respect personal property of others and the school at all times

·respect the safety of others. Real or imitation weapons and other harmful devices are prohibited at school related events

·participate in positive group activities and will not bully, harass, intimidate, or swarm students, staff or visitors

·cheer in a positive/respectful manner at school sporting events

·wear clothing that is appropriate for school. Clothing must be free of profane language, racial, sexual, alcohol, drugs or references to gangs. Clothing must cover the body appropriately without distractive accessories. Midriffs shall be covered and halter tops and off-the-shoulder tops are not permitted. Underwear, whether “tops or bottoms” must not be exposed in any way and shorts and skirts must be a reasonable length. Outdoor clothing will be left in lockers. Hats and other headgear are not permitted in the school.

·follow all directions provided by teachers, administration and police services during emergency procedures and drills

·strive to model the positive character attributes of a “Soaring Eagle.”
